Using Projective techniques
Why do you need to know this?
If you have any claims to working 'in depth' with people you will soon come up against the barriers of things that people don't want to tell you; things that they think they don't know; or can't put into words. This seminar will explain a range of techniques commonly known as 'projectives' and tell you how they work and why they are helpful.
Course content
- Why researchers need them - things that people can't or won't say
- Where the techniques have come from
- Neuroscience and the unconscious
- General principles of setting them up
- Enabling techniques for imagination warm-ups
- Elicitation of insights about products, brands and organisations by
- Association/metaphors, (personification, brand party) - - Construction (mapping, collages, storytelling, catchphrases)
- - Completion (sentence completion, reports/obituaries, timelines)
- Expression of insights about respondents (bubble drawings, self-scripts, laddering)
- Overview of more advanced techniques
- Warnings about the findings
What will you know and be able to do at the end of this Seminar?
You'll know what the techniques are, why you need them and how they are used - but you will need to experience them yourself IN DETAIL before you can use them comfortably.
Materials and exercises
- Pre-course exercise - Using instructions try bubble drawings and self-scripts
- Course notes
- Post- seminar coaching - practice the simpler techniques in a safe space
This seminar is delivered live using screen sharing and audio so is fully interactive.
