Online Seminar
Developing as a qualitative researcher - skills & mindset
Why do you need to know this?
Qualitative research interactions are like intersecting ripples. Reflexivity in qual means that respondents react to the researcher; how they present themselves, how they approach the subject, build relationships and manage energy.
You can work adequately without full awareness and understanding of how you are and how you affect others, or you can work with full consciousness and mastery to become truly excellent.
Course content
- An overview of the competencies that underpin successful qual
- How researchers can unwittingly influence the research results
- How researchers make effective relationships with a wide range of different people
- Best practice in qual, quality of attention, listening and presence,
- Using roles and staying authentic, modeling
- Tools to use to help you understand how you relate to others, for stretching your comfort zone and reducing any bias.
What will you know and be able to do at the end of this Seminar?
You will understand the roots of best practice in interviewing and moderating. You'll have a set of tools to help you think about developing yourself and others, and you will have the confidence to tackle projects that stretch you.
